Alma Mexican Foods Founder Lorenza Arnal hosts a self-care escape Mérida, México in February.
Who: Lorenza Arnal
What: Self-care trip, Capitana Adventures
Where: Mérida, México
Our second collaboration with Alma Mexican Foods Founder Lorenza Arnal is live (the first one sold out!), this time with A SELF-CARE ESCAPE TO MÉRIDA, MÉXICO in February!
What inspired you to launch Capitana Adventures?
The inspiration emerged while selling my Alma Mexican Foods products at the Westport Farmers Market. A client suggested I take a group to México to experience it through a local’s eyes. This sparked the idea to organize curated travel experiences that showcase the true essence of my home country. My goal is to explore cultural and culinary gems like Oaxaca, Yucatán, Méxcio City, and Puebla, revealing authentic culture and cuisine beyond typical tourist spots like Cancun and Tulum. Our Oaxaca trip we promoted with The Connecticut Edit sold out, and we’re excited to expand to Yucatán for a self-care retreat.
Tell us about the trip to Yucatán.

In our busy lives, it’s vital to pause and prioritize our well-being. This holistic retreat will rejuvenate your mind and body through yoga, sound baths and Maya cacao rituals. With impeccable service—described as flawless by Condé Nast Traveler—we’ve curated an authentic cultural and culinary adventure. Our group will stay in a private hacienda near Mérida, featuring a spa and teaching kitchen. Plus, Yucatán is recognized as the safest state in México by the US State Department.
