Darien Dining
Restaurant L’Ostal
As soon as L’Ostal came on to the scene it catapulted the number one spot in Darien for dinner. Recently the restaurant add L’apero Hour aka a “happy hour” from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday they’re open from Tuesday through Friday which is the perfect time if you are reservation-less and want to grab a quick tasting from this hot spot. Rooted in Southern French tradition this Provençal restaurant serves one of our absolute favorite menus in Fairfield County. We start with cheese and charcuterie or the classic SALADE VERTE with field greens pistou vinaigrette and fines herbs and adore the way the prepare fish and duck but note the menu changes seasonally. Outdoor seating is such a lovely bonus at this sweet boîte.

Seamore’s
Sunny, beachy vibes set the tone for a fish-focused summer-all-year-long vibe at Seamore’s in Darien Commons where every piece of fish is sustainably caught or farmed. The focus is on supporting small-scale fisheries, mission-driven producers and healthier oceans, serving mostly local fish whenever possible. All of their seafood is caught and farmed in a sustainable manner - from stable stocks, innovative farms, and in methods that minimize habitat and ecosystem damage. The front bar is a vibe with bar bites, the nearby banquettes are perfect for a casual bite and the dining room has a tad bit more formality overlooking the open kitchen. We love the Yellowfin tuna poke, baja fish tacos and east coast oysters to start. The Seamore’s salad with Montauk scallops and the reel deel for our main which is simply grilled fish (either blackened shrimp, salmon, scallops or the daily catch over a variety of bases.
