Studio visit with artist Erick Vittorino at his private atelier in Westport
MEET THE ARTIST
Who: Erick Vittorino
What: An awarded Brazilian Contemporary Artist/Painter.
Where: New York-Westport-Rio de Janeiro.
When we first met @erick.vittorino it was impossible not to fall in love with his Brazilian energy and true passion, not only as a contemporary artist, but for his admitted ability to have such a diverse body of work.
His pieces range from whimsical fruits to paintings inspired by Old Masters through to dynamic paintings contrasting stark black and a mix of primary colors.
What we loved most was the fact that as you meander through his studio-cum-home that he shares with partner Othon H Dutra the different styles work so imperfectly, perfectly together.
Erick's work ranges from majestic and warm on the ground floor, think of a Ralph Lauren designed salon replete with a working fireplace, to poppy and cheerful upstairs in a stark white-washed studio.
The petite maison surprisingly makes his more coastal pieces, inspired by the waters of his native city, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, also feel just right. It’s hard to pick favorites but, if we had to, the free linear soft blue and white pieces were it for us. We’re pining after one specifically, “Sidewalk Copacabana.”
DM @erick.vittorino for private viewings at his atelier in Westport and, of course, mention @theconnecticutedit if you’ve discovered @erick.vittorino work here.
